Tuesday April 1st 1862
The Board met according to adjournment. A Decimal system of classification by subjects on
ranges and shelves was unanimously adopted. It was also decided to classify under six heads as
follows. Moral Science and Theology, Education and General Literature, History, Biography,
Geography and Travels, Novels and Tales.
Present Messrs. Peirce, Dodge, Tuck and Leach.
