1861-03-20 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 05/20/1861 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Benjamin O. Peirce, Charles Haddock, Franklin Leach, and Joseph D. Tuck Board members absent: Joseph G. Dodge Others present: Recorder: Franklin Leach March 20th 1861 At a meeting of the Trustees held this evening in pursuance of a call from the President on motion of Mr. Tuck the board proceeded to organize itself by the election of officers for the ensuing year. The Ballot resulted in the election of Mr. B. O. Peirce, President Mr. F. Leach, Secretary Mr. J. D. Tuck, Treasurer Messrs. Chas. Haddock, J. G Dodge and J. D. Tuck, were appointed the committee on additions to the Library. Messrs. Chas Haddock, F. Leach and J. D. Tuck as Prudential Committee. Mr. H. A. P. Torrey was chosen Librarian for the ensuing year at the same salary as last year. On motion of Dr. Haddock it was voted that the thanks of the Board be presented to the Librarian for the satisfactory manner in which his duties were performed. The President announced to the Board the election by the Town of Mr. Franklin Leach for the ensuing five years. On motion of Mr. Tuck, it was voted to reopen the Library on Saturday, March 50m and that a notice to that effect be inserted in the Beverly Citizen. Present Messrs. Haddock, Tuck, Peirce & Leach. Adjourned to Wednesday 5d April.
