1860-03-21 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/21/1860 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Charles Haddock, Joseph G. Dodge, Franklin Leach, Benjamin O. Peirce, and Joseph D. Tuck Board members absent: Others present: Recorder: Benjamin O. Peirce March 21st 1860 At a meeting of the Board according to adjournment there were present Messrs. Dodge, Tuck & Leach, also the Librarian. Mr. Dodge in the Chair and Mr. Leach Secretary pro tern. The following business was transacted. Charles Haddock was chosen President. B. O. Peirce was chosen Secretary. Joseph D. Tuck was chosen Treasurer. The above officers were chosen for the ensuing year by Ballot on the motion of Mr. Leach. Messrs. B. O. Peirce and Joseph G. Dodge, were appointed Committee on additions to the Library. Messrs. Chas. Haddock, Jos. D. Tuck & Leach were appointed the Prudential Committee. Mr. H. A. P. Torrey was appointed Librarian for the ensuing year, with a salary of One Hundred and fifty dollars. On a Motion of Mr. Tuck it was resolved, that the Library be reopened for the distribution of Books on Wednesday the 28th inst. and a notice of the same be inserted in the Beverly Citizen. On motion of Mr. Tuck adjourned to Wednesday evening next.
