1859-03-23 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/23/1859 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Charles Haddock, Franklin Leach, Benjamin O. Peirce, and Joseph D. Tuck Board members absent: Joseph G. Dodge Others present: Recorder: Benjamin O. Peirce Beverly March 23d 1859 The Trustees of the Beverly Public Library assembled in the Library Room at the call of the President. Joseph G. Dodge not having been notified of the intended meeting was not present. The president announced to the board the reeleetion on the part of the Town of Benjamin O. Peiree as Trustee for the ensuing five years. On motion of Joseph D. Tuck it was Resolved that the Board now proceed to the choice of officers for the year. The balloting for the President, Secretary and Treasurer resulted in the choice of Charles Haddock' President Benjamin O. Peirce, Secretary Joseph G. Tuck, Treasurer Messrs. Benjamin O. Peirce & Joseph G. Dodge were appointed the committee on additions to the Library. Messrs. Charles Haddock, Franklin Leach, and Joseph D. Tuck were appointed the Prudential Committee. Some discussion followed in Reference to the appointment of Librarian and On motion of Mr. Peiree it was resolved that the question concerning the appointment of Librarian be left for the consideration of the Prudential Committee until the next roecling of the Board. On motion of Mr. Leach Resolved That when we adjourn it shall be to the next Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. On motion of Mr. Peiree it was resolved That the committee having in charge the repairs and alterations in the Library Room be instructed to remove the shelves which have been put up in front of the Eastern door now shut up and reopen that door for the use of the Trustees and Librarian.
