Library Director's Report
Sept. 28,1999
The library had another summer of successful reading programs. Our children's Story Train
to Rockport was another great successful and reading programs for all ages from elementary school
age to adults kept the Library busy for the summer.
The Library suffered additional flooding early in the summer, but no damage during Hurricane
Floyd or heavy thunderstorms the week before. One of our maintenance personnel, Mike Tracchia
marreed the sand bags and pumps supplied by the Dept.ofPublic Services and almost singlehandedly
kept the water out. Construction crews are in the process of installing the permanent pumps on Dane
Street and should be finished this week.
The Beverly Farms Library Building Committee has continued with meetings with potential
donors. We have received an additional major contribution from Dr. and Mrs. Robert Searoans. We
are in the process scheduling additional meetings with donors.
We have also been in the process of upgrading our computer equipment in anticipation of
NOBLE's change of computer vendors in December. The change of software will render many of
our existing computer terminals obsolete.
