A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held on Saturday the 27th day
of February 1915 at 3:30 o'clock pro.
There were present of the Trustees: Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Messrs. Bulkeley, Webber and
Baker.
In the absence of the Chairman, Mr. Bulkeley was chosen chairman of the meeting and
presided.
The records of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 39 titles and reported two titles
received as gifts whereupon, on motion it was
Voted:
That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be adopted with reference to 39
titles and that the thanks of the Trustees be extended to those who have made gifts.
On motion it was
Voted:
To purchase The World's Story, in fourteen volumes.
In view of the tire-proof nature of the present building and its comparative isolation, it was
Voted
That the insurance on Library contents which is about to expire, be not renewed.
[This action had the approval of the Mayor]
A communication was presented from the City Clerk reporting the reappointment and
confirmation of Miss Loring, Miss Sohier and Mr. Baker as Trustees for three years, whereupon it
was
Voted:
To proceed to the organization of the Board. Written ballot being had, Col. William R. Driver
was elected Chairman and Louis H. Baker, Secretary.
On motion it was
Voted:
To cooperate in a plan for securing the services of Miss Frances S. Wiggin as a consulting
or supervising librarian among some of the libraries of this vicinity: provided, however, that the
expense incurred by this Library on this account shall not exceed $250 for the current year and that
the expense so incurred shall be paid from the Trust funds - Miss Loring to represent the Library in
the matter.
Mr. Webher reported as to a conference which he had with a representative of the Ryal Side
petitioners.
On motion it was
Voted:
That the matter of continuing the existing arrangements for a deposit of books at North
Beverly Parish House be referred to Miss Loring with power to act.
On motion it was
Voted:
That the matter of the deposit of books at Centerville be referred to Miss Loring and Mr.
Webber with power to act.
On motion it was
Voted:
That as an experiment the Library be opened for reading room purposes only, on Sunday
from 2 to 5 o'clock pm beginning March 7th if suitable arrangements for an Assistant can be made
by that date, and continuing until June 1 st.
On motion it was
Voted:
That the matter of janitor service in connection with the Sunday opening be referred to Mr.
Webber with power to act.
On motion it was
Voted to adjourn
