1915-30-01 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 01/30/1915 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and Louis D. Webber Board members absent: Charles L. Dodge, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held on Saturday the 30th day of January, 1915, at 3:30 o'clock pm. There were present of the Trustees: Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Messrs. Driver, Bulkeley, Kilham, Webber and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read & approved., The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 113 titles and reported the gift of six volumes from various donors, whereupon On motion it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be adopted with reference to 113 titles and that the thanks of the Trustees be extended to those who have made gifts. On recommendation of the Committee on Circulation it was Voted: That the Library subscribe for the Italian magazine La Lettura for the current year. A petition was received from residents of Ryal Side asking for the establishment of a branch library in that district and, on motion, the matter was referred to the Committee on Branches. On motion it was Voted: That the salary of Miss Jennie Dodge, absent on account of illness, be paid in full to February 1 st. On recommendation of the Committee appointed to consider the matter of Assistant Librarians, it was Voted: That the employment of Miss Helen Follansbee as a temporary assistant be continued for the present. Om motion of Miss Sohier it was Voted: That the accounts be placed for three months in the charge of Miss Stanton under the direction of the finance committee as an experiment in order that her capacity to undertake them permanently may be tested and in order to give Miss Smith sufficient time to study and superintend other work in the Library.
