1894-17-03 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/17/1894 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Joseph D. Tuck, Rev. Ellery C. Butler, Charles L. Dodge, and Edward L. Giddings Board members absent: Franklin Leach, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly Mar. 17, 94 The Trustees held a meeting this evening for the purpose of organization. Messrs. Tuck, Giddings, Dodge and Butler present. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Tuck. On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was Voted That we proceed to ballot for President and Mr. Joseph D. Tuck was unanimously elected. On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was Voted That we proceed to ballot for secretary and Charles L. Dodge was elected. On motion of Mr. Butler, it was Voted That we proceed to ballot for Treasurer and Mr. Joseph D. Tuck was unanimously elected. On motion of Mr. Dodge, it was Voted That we proceed to ballot for room committee and Messrs. Giddings, Butler and Woodberry were elected. On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was Voted That we proceed to ballot for Librarian and Mss Martha P. Smith was unanimously elected. On motion of Mr. Butler, it was Voted That the salary of the Librarian be continued at $400.00 per annum. On motion of Mr. Giddings it was Voted that subject of salaries of the assistants at the main library and at the Farms be postponed for two weeks from this date. On motion of Mr. Giddings it was Voted That the following magazines at the Farms Branch be bound viz, Harpers, Century, Scribners, St. Nicholas and Cosmopolitan. That the subject of making arrangements for transportation of books to the Branch at the Farms be postponed. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Charles L. Dodge Secretary
