1891-14-03 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/14/1891 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Joseph D. Tuck, Rev. Daniel D. Addison,, George A. Galloupe, Edward L. Giddings, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Charles L. Dodge Others present: Recorder: Beverly March 14th 1891 The Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library elected March 2d 1891 under the provisions of Chapter 304 Acts of 1888 consisting of the following members and constituted as follows. For one year Joseph D. Tuck Daniel D. Addison For two years George A. Galloupe Charles L. Dodge For three years Edward L. Giddings George E. Woodberry Met for organization on Saturday Evening March 14m (all being present but C.L. Dodge) and elected Mr. Tuck as chairman and Mr. Dodge as Secretary. The following business was transacted. On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was Voted that the whole board be a committee for the purchase of books and the approval of three trustees shall be sufficient to accept. On motion of Mr. Woodberry, it was Voted That the room committee consist of three, the following were elected. Messrs. Tuck, Addison and Galloupe. Miss Martha P. Smith was elected Librarian receiving 5 votes. Voted The Librarian's salary for the ensuing year shall be $300 dollars. On motion of Mr. Woodberry, it was Voted That one boy be employed each at~ernoon as an assistant to the Librarian. On motion of Mr. Woodberry, it was Voted That a committee of two be chosen to consider the subject of card catalogue and Messrs. Addison and Woodberry were chosen. Voted That Messrs. Leach and Driver be allowed to retain their keys and accorded the privileges of the Library. It was suggested That the numbers of new books be published in the local papers which has been adopted with satisfactory results. There being no further business the meeting was adjoumed till Saturday Evening March 21't at 8 o'clock.. Charles L. Dodge Secretary
