Honorable Mayor and the Board of Alderman
City Hall
Beverly, Massachusetts
Gemlemen:
The Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public L~rary respectfully request the sum of $1,016.25 for
the salary of Mrs. Elizabeth Nevers, our Special Services Librarian to cover the bal_ance of the
year.
Mrs. Nevers is our new Bookmobile Librarian; her employment starting on September 14, 1959,
bar position as classified under the Barrington plan as of Group 9; special services librarian to start
at $67,75 per week, making a total for the balance of the year $1,016.25.
As of the moment, Mrs. Nevers is being paid from the amount leR in deposit salaries which
mounts to $645. However, this is not sufficient to cover the balance of the year and this money is
needed for pages and should be allotted to that account. (see schedule)
All the deposits which have been closed; are being replaced by the Bookmobile which is due to
start service the first week of October. The Bookmobile will give the city much better library
service than the old deposit stations as we will be able to cover the whole city in rotation, with
special emphasis on serving the elementary schools as suggested by Mr. Ayers in conference with
Mrs. Brown, the h~rarian.
We wish to bring to the attention of the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen that the library supplies
the major requirements of the school system in Beverly, and all the books purchased and the
services given come out of the Library budget and not that of the School Department.
A member of the Board of Trustees will be glad to appear before your Board to answer any
questions you may have.
Very Truly yours,
Board of Trustees
Beverly Public Library
Louisa V. Conrad, Chairman.
