Conrad, Russell P. Brown,, Dorothy C. Cook, Frank P. Hyde, Bruce Lancaster, Frederick H. Pierce and Thomas J. Tooracy Board members absent: Saul J. Cagan, and Carolyn F. StandIcy Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Tuesday, August 4, 1959 at Library A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees was called on the above date at 5 o'clock to vote on purchasing a truck to be used for a bookmobile. Present: Mrs. Conrad, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Toomey, Mr. Lancaster, Mr. Brown, Mrs. Cook and Mr. Hyde. Mrs. Conrad reported to the Beard of Trustees as to the bookmobile that was recommended by the Finance Committee. The only bid was from Loring Motors for $2500.00, net less tax exemption. A motion was made to purchase the track to he used for a bookmobile for $2500 less tax and SO VOTED. It was then VOTED to send the following letter to the Commissioners of Trust Funds requesting the sum of $3000 he transferred from Whitmarsh Fund to Board of Trustees. With the letter a copy ofthe written opinion ofthe City Solicitor. A letter and opinion to go to the Mayor also. August 5, 1959 Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds c/o Victor A. Clare, City Treasurer City Hall, Beverly, Massachusetts Gemlemen: The Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library respectfully request that the sum of $3000.00 he transferred from the "Sarah L. Whitmarsh Fund" now in custody of the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds, to the Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library for the purpose of purchasing and equipping a Metro-Mite walk-in truck according to specifications as outlined by the Trustees for use as a bookmobile. This request was duly voted by the Board at a Special Meeting held on August 4, 1959. It is requested that the transfer be made effective immediately. A photocopy of a written opinion furnished by the City Solicitor concerning said Fund is herewith Respectfully, Marion A. Brown, Librarian Clerk of the Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library cc Mayor Thomas J. Wickers Mr. Hyde suggested that metal shelves of stock material he used for equipping the truck. It was leR for Mr. Hyde and Mr. Tooracy to carry on as to shelves and city seal ARer the Special Meeting adjourned a meeting was then opened to the effect that it was VOTED to change the By-laws to read 4 o'clock P.M. instead of 7:30 P.M. for regular meetings. (Next meeting to he Sept. 17, 4:00 P.M.) Mr. Toomey questioned the non-residents service fee of $5.00 yearly, this to be established before Sept. So Voted. Adjourned at 6 P.M.
