Special Meeting August 8, 1957 4 P.M.
A Special Meeting of the trustees was called for Thursday, August 8 at 4 P.M. Present were
Mrs. Conrad, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Tooracy, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Boyden, Mr. Brown and Mr. Cagan.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the necessary new roof and general repairs to the
Main Library.
Mr. Toomey explained that as soon as the $28,000 becomes available a Commission would
be appointed by the Mayor and perhaps Mr. Dolloffas Building Inspector could be clerk of this work.
Mr. Boyden was authorized to have blue prints and changed specifications made for the
Library & City Hall and his firm should be reimbursed from the available appropriations.
All present made a thorough tour of the building. Mr. Boyden made many memos and alI
agreed that the roof was first and most important.
Other items that should be considered:
Replacement of the electrical board
Emergency lighting (required by law)
Grill work outside & Safety bar on door: Auditorium
Front door repaired & new oil burner: Beverly Farms branch
Electric typewriter & Main from steps pointed and more water proofing as a leakage shows
under the steps
New piping through the building
Vent in boiler room and metal fire door
More plugs in all parts of building
New covering for floors - 3 d floor
Covering for floor - Youth Room
Sept. 3 the $28,000 is to be made available. Mr. Toomey, Chairman, Mr. Brown and Miss
Standley were appointed a Commission.
