In attendance were Mrs. Cook, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Boyden, Mr. Cagan and Mr. Tooracy. The records of the previous meeting were approved as read. After study of the finance sheets they were accepted and placed on file. Because of so little money let't for pages and no money for office and janitor supplies it was voted to request the Mayor for an additional $1200 for pages, $200 Janitor Supplies, $700 Office Supplies and $600 Repairs & Furniture. This is necessary because the triennial re-registration of all borrowers starts July 1. Also this summer an inventory of the book collection is to be started, a task that is long overdue. It was voted to send a letter to the City Government stating that the Trustees do not approve the present salary set-up and feel that definite adjustments must be made and step increases should be considered. For the Administration Committee Mr. Toomey brought up the matter of the shocking condition of the roof. He had met with the Mayor who had agreed that action should be taken at once. The Mayor, Mr. Boyden and Mr. Tooracy arranged to meet with Mr. Dyne at the State House so as to obtain at least $25,000 that was estimated to take care of the necessary repairs. Many books could be ruined, it is very dangerous for persons walking near the building. It was agreed that photographs and full details of the conditions should be presented. It was voted to grant Mrs. Luther and Mrs. Gibbs one weeks vacation with pay as they were entitled to it. Mr. Tooracy stated that as Dr. Bierkoe approved the Endicott College gift of $150 for books, a list of books should be suggested, Mrs. Conrad suggested that a study of the Trust Funds should be made by the Finance Committee: Mr. Brown, Mr. Cagan, Mr. Toomey and Mrs. Conrad. She felt that a special meeting should take place early in August. Also obtain a full report of all the Trust Funds. Mrs. Conrad also reported that the Hospital program is progressing. A room had been allotted to Miss Lovett and several ladies are presenting a book wagon in memory of Mrs. Judith Kelly English. It was voted to hand over to the City Solicitor the matter of collecting $75 for fines on 26 books that were loaned to Mt. Vernon School ( Mr. Often) and kept out for over a year. The report of the Circulation Committee was accepted as read as was the Librarian's report. The Board accepted with thanks a git~ of Merchant Sail in 6 volumes by W. A Fairbum of Fairbum Marine Educational Foundation of Center Lovell, Maine. These were given in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Bernard S. Leslie who recognized the potential value of these works.
