Thursday January 17, 1957
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday January
17 at 7:30 with Mrs. Conrad, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Cagan, Mr. Pierce, Mr. Boyden and Mr. Toomey
in attendance.
The records of the meeting of Dec. 20 were read and approved. The Finance Committee made
an informal report giving the balances for the year and since the Budget for 1957 had not been passed
no formal report could be presented.
For the Administration Committee Mrs. Conrad asked for the report from the Bookmobile
Committee. Mr. Tooracy presented his report as to the cost of operation per mile plus the fixed
charges plus the purchase of new books - the amount was so tremendous that after discussion it was
voted that this matter be laid on the table.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 68 books, the monthly report
was read and approved as was the Librarian's report giving details and activities of the month.
The yearly report of the Trustees and Librarian were read and accepted. There was some
discussion as to emphasizing the most desperate needs of the Library and all agreed it was wise to
publicize the physical condition of the building.
It was voted to write a letter to the deposits stating that the Trustees would like to continue
the same policy in 1957.
Mr. Toomey offered to contact some of the industrial organizations as to obtaining gifts of
Industrial reference books for the Library.
Voted to adjourn.
