Birmingham, Russell P. Brown, and Saul J. Cagan Board members absent: Louisa V. Conrad, Frederick Pierce, Carolyn StandIcy, and Carl Zeilon Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Beverly, April 25, 1956 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called for Thursday evening April 25 at 7:30. In the absence of Mrs. Conrad, Mrs. Cook was acting Chairman. Present were Mr. Cagan, Mr. Brown and Mr. Birmingham. The records of the March meeting were read and approved and copies of the report of the Finance Committee were studied and placed on file. It was reported for the Administration Committee that the Farms front door had not as yet been repaired, since further examination by the City Maintenance was in process. The Committee on Circulation reported that during the month of March 164 books were purchased. This was approved. The report of the Librarian giving details of circulation and activities during the month especially of the contest recently held in the Children's Department was presented and placed on file. It was voted as in the past to grant the request for the Hall to the Guild of Beverly Artists for the Annual Exhibition to take place June 8-16. It was voted to inform the Mayor of the important activities of the Y.P.R. and Children's Room and to explain the gain in circulation and the number of new borrowers for the first twelve months of the year. A motion was made and voted that the Janitor, Mr. Clark who stated that there was a leak in the Art Room should plug up the exhausts with boards to determine if the leaks we coming from this source. Voted to contact Mr. William Greenlaw to see if he could recommend an improvement in lighting of the swinging lantern over the front door or entrance of Main Library so as to give better illumination. As Mr. Cagan.had been approached by Sgt. Shaw, a short discussion took place as to again using Winter St. lot for a parking area. Voted to adjourn Marion A. brown Clerk
