The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library, Thursday, Nov. 18 at
7: 30. Mr. Rowe, the Chairman, presided. Present were Mrs. Cook, Miss Standley, Mrs. Conrad, Mr.
Zeilon and Mr. Birmingham.
The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The Finance sheets and 1955 Budget
were studied and discussed. It was voted to set the budget figures as was decided at the Budget
Meeting. Salaries $42,849. Maintenance which was set at $14,125 it was voted to add $150 for rent
at Noah Beverly Branch, making total maintenance $14,275. An estimated total budget of $ 56,974
+ 150 = $57,174 plus $6085 for other outlays: - Pointing marble - Main Library $2000. Window trim
- Main Library $500, Improved stack lights $500. Repairs to roof $1000. New furniture $1000.
Finishing fence at Farms $585. 100m anniversary $500.
For this 100m Anniversary to take place in 1955 Mr. Rowe appointed a Committee: - Mrs.
Conrad, Chairman, Mrs. Cook and Miss StandIcy. A motion was made to interest local organizations
in assisting the library to celebrate this anniversary. It was suggested that concentrated publicity as
to this matter could be brought before the Public through Miss Kline's articles in the Times.
The report of Circulation Committee and librarian's report giving a summary of circulation
and registration were read and placed on file.
A long discussion took place as to the Branches. Much dissatisfaction was expressed as to
the R. S. Branch. It was definitely felt that a new location should be considered. Also the Farms
Branch should be studied. Circulation has been poor and a report should be presented as to the
number of people who use it.
