1954-04-14 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 04/14/1954 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Philip Rowe, John C. Birmingham, Russell P. Brown, W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Saul J. Cagart, Louisa V. Conrad, Dorothy Cook, and Carl Zeilon Board members absent: Lawrence E. Foster Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown April 14, 1954 Because of Holy Thursday the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library Wednesday, April 14 at 7 o'dock. All members were present except Mr. Foster. The records of the last meeting were approved as read. The Finance sheets were passed around and discussed Mr. Rowe than brought up the question of using the land on Winter St. for a parking lot for the City. After a long discussion all agreed that the City should consider the other available parking areas: Cabot and Pond Streets and also do away with meters at the Lot across from the Fire Station. Mr. Brown explained that the City is strongly considering Cabot and Pond Streets and will probably be decided on in the near future. It was a unanimous vote, after discussing and viewing the City Engineer's draft that no action would be taken as the proposed plans were presented. It was laid on the table for future discussion. The circulation figures and the Librarian's report were accepted and placed on file. Voted: to purchase 12 Windsor chairs like others purchased, if possible, and 12 annless Windsors for Children's Room. Voted: to send Easter card and flowers to Miss Stanton and a suitable Easter Greeting to Mr. Foster. Voted to adjourn. Marion A~ Brown Clerk
