Present were Mr. Rowe, Mr. Cagan, Mr. Boyden and Mr. Zeilon. The records of the December 17 were read and approved. No finance report could be given as the Budget for 1954 had not as yet been granted by the City Government. Mr. Rowe reported for the Administration Committee. He stated that although he had not seen the budget he had been assured that the money for painting the outside iron work was to be allowed. He also felt as did the other members that the most vital matter of the moment was to secure heat for the Students Room and obtain new floor covering for the Reading Rooms. As Mr. Lee Hersey's figure of $430 for a unit heater was considered high a suggestion was made that more figures be obtained from Goldberg and Grant Plumbing Co. Voted to pay from Repairs $35, the estimate given on painting the walls of foyer with two coats of paint. A suggestion was made that the walls behind the desk and over the card catalog should be painted also to finish most of the Main floor. The estimate was approximately $150 for all. Voted to pay from Trust Funds the automobile insurance for 1954 of Mrs. Myrtle Palmer - $85. Voted to give Mr. Stapleton the work of making new shades for both Reading Rooms at approximately $170. The meeting was adjourned. Marion A. Brown, clerk The Students Room and Reading Rooms were inspected. Everyone expressed satisfaction and approval of the work that was completed to date. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 194 books. This was approved as was the Librarian's report giving details of circulation and registration.
