The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday November
19 at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Rowe, Mrs. Conrad, Mrs. Cook, Mr. Brown, Mr. Birmingham, Mr. Zeilon were
present.
The records of the Special Meeting of October 29 and the Budget Meeting of November 3
were read and approved.
Mr. Birmingham explained in detail about his meeting with Mr. Henry Wolfers (He states that
Mr. Wolfers said that the Lightolier fixtures were a discontinued line and are not made any more.)
At Mr. Birmingham's suggestion a vote was made to have these new Sylvania fixtures
installed and to advertise for bids immediately. (Mrs. Conrad was the only dissenting vote)
A motion was made that the Chairman and Librarian consult with City Electrician as to
preparing plans and specifications for installing the above fixtures: - Wiring and installing fixtures in
both Reading Rooms and doing away with all table and shelf lamps leaving 6 usable outlets in each
Reading Room.
Voted to pay for all fixtures out of Special Appropriation and if possible put Wolfer's bill
through immediately. The total amount for Sylvania and 14 Lightolier fixtures is $1539.24.
Voted to purchase all lamps for these fixtures from Wolfers and pay from regular
appropriation at a sum of $138.88 and $21.84. This would cost us less as they would allow us 40%
off when we buy fixtures from them.
Voted to buy from States Prison, 12 chairs similar to those in Adult Reading Room ~ $16.50
a piece. These chairs to be used in Students Room.
Voted to give the contract for installing Lightolier fixtures in Students Room, Librarian's
Office, Reference Room and two passageways to Fisher & George at a sum of $126.00.
Voted to accept the Budget as presented by Finance Committee. Salaries $42,195
Maintenance $15,863.21 at total of $58,058.21 and a Special Appropriation of Converting to oil
$1300, Pointing up Brick $200, Painting iron work $500, New furniture $1000 and New Linoleum
floors for both Reading Rooms $1100. A total of $5900.
Voted that $180 be spent to replace rear doors with combination aluminum doors to be
purchased from Champion Door Co.
Voted to spend $227 for painting Students Room to be done by City men.
Voted to dose Christmas Eve and Saturday after Christmas also Saturday at~er New Year's
Day.
Suggested that Librarian procure an estimate from Walker Linoleum Co. for furnishing new
floors, rubber tile, or such in both Reading Rooms and the mount be placed in the Budget.
It was left for Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Conrad and the Librarian to make a beginning on purchasing
some new furniture for Adult Reading Room.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 284 books. This was approved.
The Librarian's report giving a summary of circulation and registration was read and placed
on file.

Farms could have our old one.
