The continuation of the above meeting was held at the Library on Friday, March 20 at 7:30
P.M.
Mrs. Conrad, Acting Chairman, presided. Present were Mrs. Cook, Messrs. Birmingham,
Boyden, Cagan, Rowe and Zeilon.
By ballot, Mr. Rowe was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board and Mrs. Conrad was
elected Secretary by a unanimous vote. It was voted that Mr. Rowe, as Chairman, appoint the
Committees for 1953.

Since the budget for the year had not as yet been approved, the Finance Committee could
make no report. The Trust Fund Statement was presented and proved to be approximately the same
amount as 1952.
Mr. Rowe reported for the Administration Committee, that no progress had been made as to
the Winter Street doors or of the sign for the hours of opening.
It was voted to extend the time of the temporary janitors for 30 more days.
The Committee on Circulation reported the purchase of 93 titles and 7 books were presented.
This was approved.
The Librarian's report giving a summary of circulation, registration and activities was
presented and placed on file.
Voted: to amend two of the By-laws: - The word Last in the second line of Chapter II Section
1 be stuck out and the word Third, substituted. This is to read - Chapter II Section 1.
Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees shall be held on the third Thursday of each month, July and August
excepted, at 7:30 P.M. in the Trustee' s Room at the Beverly Public Library.
Also, Chapter IV Section 3. Salaries. By stdldng out all of the present minimum salaries and
substituting for each position as follows: - and maximum be struck out and $750 for Librarian and
$500 for all others above the minimum, be added to the minimum and those to be called the
maximum:-
