Birmingham, Dorothy Cook, Philip Rowe, and Carl Zeilon Board members absent: W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Saul J. Cagan, Louisa V. Conrad, and Lawrence E. Foster Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, December 4, 1952 A Special Meeting of the Board was called on Thursday, December 4 at 7:30 P.M., with Mrs. Cook, Mr. Rowe Mr. Zeilon and Mr. Birmingham, being present - Mr. Birmingham presiding in place of Mrs. Conrad who was ill. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the possible transfer of a $400.00 surplus in the salary account, due to change in personnel during the year to the Maintenance Account for the purchase of books. it was decided, however, to use the Art Room on the second floor as a Reference Room for students, and to use part of the $400.00 toward another assistant and request a transfer of the remainder of the money for books. Since the only applicant for any position here, at present, was Mrs. Richard Folsom of Butman Street, it was voted that she be engaged to begin work at once, at the rate of $1960.00 a year, this to be paid for the balance of the year at a weekly rate from Page money, but with the hope that the amount might be made permanent on the 1953 budget. A request for the transfer of the remaining $270.00 was sent at once to the Mayor. It was voted, since there was a balance in the item Care of Grounds, that Mr. Rowe, as Chairman of the Administration Committee, be empowered to purchase a gasoline power mower at once. The meeting then adjourned. Marjorie H. Stanton Clerk
