Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Saul J. Cagan, Louisa V. Conrad, Philip Rowe, and Carl Zeilon Board members absent: Thomas F. Delaney, John C, Birmingham, Dorothy Cook, and Lawrence E. Foster Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown March 27, 1952 The March meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, the 27m, at 7:30 P.M., with Mrs. Conrad, and Messrs. Boyden, Cagan, Rowe, and Zeilon in attendance. In the absence of the Mr. Delaney, who was unable to be present because of illness, Mr. Boyden presided, which Mrs. Marion Brown acted as clerk in place of Miss Stanton who was also ill. The records of the meeting of February 28 were read and approved; alter which the report of the Finance Committee, giving the details of the budget as approved by the City Government, was presented and discussed. The Trustees expressed their pleasure over the fact that the Mayor had allowed the additional sum of $400.00, to pay for work on the skylights and roof, (which had been) done earlier in the year; and also discussed the matter of presenting to the Mayor some plan of renovating the Main Floor of the Library, with estimates for painting, changes in lighting, etc. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 104 new titles and the acceptance of 11 git~s. This was approved. A letter was received from John W. Bethell, Secretary of the Beverly Hospital Corporation, expressing deep appreciation for the extensive work being done by the Library at the Hospital; and one from Miss Helen Quill, Executive Secretary of the Beverly Chapter of the American Red Cross, expressing thanks to the Library for the loan of the Library projector which was used at a recent meeting of the Red Cross Drive Committee. The Librarian's report, giving details of circulation, registration, and activities during the months, was then presented. Its was most encouraging to find that circulation as well as registration of borrowers had increased since the beginning of the year. Voted to adjourn Marjorie H. Stanton, Clerk Marion A.
