Foster, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: John C. Birmingham, W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Thomas J. Casey, William A. Rowe, Louisa L. Vaughan and B. Frederick Yoffa Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, December 27, 1945 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, December 27 at 7:30 P.M. Since only three members - Messrs. Delaney, Foster and Small - were present, all action taken was subject to ratification at the next meeting of the Board. The records of the meeting of October 25 and November 29 were omitted until a later meeting when there should be a quorum present. The Finance Committee presented a brief summary of balances to December first and a statement of the budget estimates for 1946. This was approved. The Administration Committee gave a brief report of repairs to the Farms heating plant and of possible need for a new cesspool at Beverly Farms. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 211 books - mainly juveniles. This was approved. The Librarian gave a brief summary of the activities of the year, with figures, as far as possible, of registration and circulation. This report was placed on file. A letter from Miss Dorothy Prince was then read, requesting a three months leave of absence, by doctor's orders because of a heart condition. It was voted that Mrs. Palmer, because of the increased service which she is giving to shut-ins, be paid thirty dollars a month, instead of 22.80 - this to be taken as usual from Trust Funds. This is to begin on January first 1946. The Annual Report of the Board, as prepared by the Chairman, Mr. Delaney, was read and accepted as the formal report, to be sent to the City government as early in January as possible.
