1931-12-31 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 12/31/1931 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Marian P. Motley, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Caleb B. Hood, Fred H. Porter, and William A. Rowe Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton December 31, 1931 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, December 31st, at 4 P.M. There were present of the Board Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, and Messrs., Pond, Small, Delaney and Cronin. The records of the meeting of November 24th were read and approved. Mr. Small then presented the budget for 1932, as prepared by the Finance Committee at its meeting on December 29th, with full explanation of each item on the budget. Upon Mr. Small's request, the Board voted to ask the City Government for the sum of $31,963.80 and one half the dog tax, as the amount needed for 1932; and the Finance Committee was authorized to present this budget to the Mayor at the proper time. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 98 new titles and the receipt of 14 gifts. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. It was voted: that the Trustees approve the necessary action taken by the Administration in the dismissal of Frank Blanchard as helper at the Farms Branch. Voted also: that this committee be authorized to engage John J. Harrington as helper at $16.00 a week, his services to begin on January 1st, 1932.
