Henderson, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and Louis D. Webber Board members absent: William R. Driver, Florence W. Braden, and Lawrence A. Ford Others present: Recorder: Charles H. Henderson Beverly Dec. 28th 1918 Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees at Library Building. Meeting called to order by Mr. Webber acting chairman. Those present - Misses Loring, and Sohier, Messrs. Kilham, Webber & Henderson. Records of last previous meeting were read and approved. The Circulating Committee reported the purchase of 174 titles. Report accepted. The Finance Committee made its monthly report, which was accepted. A draft of the annual report of the Board to the City Govnment was read and accepted. A committee appointed by the chair consisting of Miss Loring, Miss Sohier and Mr. Kilham - to prepare and submit resolutions of respect in memory of our late member - Miss Margaret Whitney submitted the following resolutions which were accepted. (Resolutions appended) on next page. It was voted - To pay the Janitor the sum of $25.00 to reimburse him for extra services during the present year - the same to be paid from the Trust Funds. Voted to adjourn - C. H. Henderson Sec'ty By the death of Miss Margaret Whitney, the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library meet with a serious loss. Although she had not been a member of the Board for many years, she was a very valued one. She was an intelligent and charming companion, of good judgment, ability, and always faithful to her responsibilities. Her interest in the Library, in the members of its staff, and in all that concerned it was genuine and generous. Every one connected with the Department misses her, and the Trustees express for all, their grief for her death and their heartfelt sympathy with her family. Voted: To spread the above resolution upon the records and to send a copy to the family of Miss Whitney.
