1998-02-19Board of Cemetery Managers Meeting minutes: Thursday, February 15,1998 Present: Messers Wahl, Wood, Dunn and Seamans and Mrs, Ferris 1. Approve minutes of Previous meeting: Moved by Mr. Ward, second by Mr. Wood, voted unanimously 2. Review of events since last meeting: welcome new and reappointed members of board. Officers to remain in place by unanimous consent. Review of invitation to bid for Beverly Farms and North Beverly Cemeteries; Mayor has asked that he "bring himseff to speed" on the issue as he fears the city may lose its ability to care for cemeteries thus losing a bargaining edge with contractors. 4. Review of possible projects for coming Season: See attached comments 5. Policy relative to requirement for vaults: Continued discussion on requirement for use of Vaults in Beverly Cemeteries. There remains some definitional conflict yet to be resolved as to what constitutes a true Vault as the "Econo" vaults are simply grave liner boxes with vaulted,single piece covers. The presumption is that this design is strucmrally stronger and less prone to collapse. It was noted that Mr. Malionek disagrees with this point. 6. Presentation of new cemetery rates: The Mayor has yet to review the proposed rate sch~ule, but committed to do so and submit the new rates to city Council at one of its March meeting. , Old Business: a. Acquisition of benches for Beverly Farms and North Beverly Cemeteries. b. Rate revim'on request c. PBS directed to review city practice and policy relative to burial of indigents, Specifically relative to payment of opening fees and liner costs. 8. New business: 9.
