1916-25-11 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 11/25/1916 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Lawrence A. Ford, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, Louis D. Webber, Margaret Whitney, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was duly held at the Library on Saturday the 25th day of November, 1916, at 3:30 o'clock p.m. There were present of the Trustees: Mr. Driver, Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Miss Whitney, Messrs. Kilham, Webber, Woodberry and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The Committee on Circulation reported the receipt of three gifts and recommended the purchase of 65 titles, including 27 volumes of The American Nation; whereupon on motion, it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation with respect to 65 titles be adopted and that the thanks of the Trustees be extended to those who have made gifts. The Committee on Circulation further reported the receipt of a large number of books from Mr. Robert Saltonstall and on motion it was. Voted: That the thanks of the Board be extended to Mr. Robert Saltonstall for his gift of books to the Library. Miss Loring reported the gift of a clock with carved case of oak, for the Beverly Farms Branch and on motion it was Voted: That the Board extends thanks to Mrs. Weaton for the gift of a clock for the Library building at Beverly Farms. The Finance Committee made a report on the financial condition of the Library to Dec. 1 st. On motion it was Voted: That the Committee on Circulation be authorized to expend a further sum not exceeding $100 from the income from trust funds for the purchase of books. No motion it was Voted: That the Annual Report be prepared by Miss Loring. Requests for increase of salary having been received from Miss Dodge, Miss Stanton and Mr. Larcom, it was, on motion. Voted: That the matter of increase in salaries of employees be referred to the Finance Committee for consideration and report at the next meeting. On motion it was Voted: That subscription for the ensuing year be made to the list of newspapers recommended by the Committee on Circulation. On motion it was Voted to adjourn Adjourned.
