1916-27-05 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 05/27/1916 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Louis D. Webber, and Margaret Whitney, Board members absent: Louis H. Baker, Lawrence A. Ford, Elizabeth P. Sohier,and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Louis Do Webber A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held at the Library on Saturday the 27th day of May, 1916, at 3:30 o'clock p.m. There were present of the Trustees: Mr. Driver, Miss Loring, Miss Whitney, Mr. Kilham, Mr. Webber. In the absence of the Secretary, Mr. Webber was chosen, Secretary of pro tem. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 46 titles and reported the receipt of 14 titles as gifts, whereupon it was, on motion, Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation with respect to 46 titles be adopted, and that the thanks of the Trustees be extended to those who have made gifts. The Finance Committee made report ofte expenditures to the end of May. On motion it was Voted: That the sum of $150 from the interest on Trust funds be appropriated for mechanical books and that the matter o the purchase of such books be referred to the Committee on Circulation. On motion it was Voted: That the sum of $50 from the interest onTrust funds be appropriated for the purchase of "Luther Burbank, his methods and Discoveries and their practical application" On motion it was Voted That the sum of not exceeding $150 from the interest on Trust funds be appropriated for the purchase of the Roman Catholic Encyclopedia and the Jewish Encyclopedia.
