1916-29-04 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 04/29/1916 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, Louis D. Webber, Margaret Whitney, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Lawrence A. Ford Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was duly held on Saturday the 29th day of April, 1916, at 3:30 o'clock P.M. There were present of the Trustees: Mr. Driver, Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Miss Whitney. Messrs. Kilham, Webber, Woodberry and Baker. The records of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 38 titles, whereupon on motion it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation with respect to the purchase of 38 titles be adopted. On motion it was Voted: That the matter of the purchase of a set of Shakespeare offered for sale to the Library be referred to the Committee on Circulation with power to act. Announcement was made of arrangements for a series of meetings in celebration of the tercentenary of William Shakespeare, to be held in the Library Hall: these meeting to include lectures, the reading of Macbeth by Mrs. Edward Holton James and an exhibition of Shakespearian pictures and books. The Finance Committee made a report on the financial condition of the Library to May 1 st. On motion it was Voted: That the Chairman of the Committee on Circulation and of the Committee on Administration consult with the School Department of the City in respect to possible cooperation in the school work now carried on by the Library [This refers especially to the financial side of the matter] On motion it was Voted to adjourn Adjourned Attest: Louis H.
