1916-29-01 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 01/29/1916 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Joseph C. Kilham, Elizabeth P. Sohier, Louis D. Webber, Margaret Whitney, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Lawrence A. Ford, and Katharine P. Loring Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was duly held on Saturday the 29th day of January, 1916, at 3:30 o'clock p.m. There were present of the Trustees: Mr. Driver, Miss Sohier, Miss Whitney, Messrs. Kilham, Webber, Woodberry and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. On motion it was Voted: To purchase a set of American Law Procedure in 14 volumes ($12.00) The Finance Committee made a report on the financial condition of the Library at the end of January. The matter of adding to the Annual Report a statement showing the use of the income from the Trust funds during the past year was referred to the Finance Committee with power to act. On motion it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation for the purchase often (10) titles, be adopted. The following memorial was offered and on motion was unanimously adopted: In Memoriam Col. Charles L. Dodge During the past year, the Board has lost one of its oldest members, Col. Charles L. Dodge. He was appointed in 1891 and from that time until he was incapacitated from active participation by his last illness, he devoted his time, thought and energy to his duties. His long service as Secretary demanded his faithful attendance which he gave. The Trustees, in memory of long fellowship and, with sympathy, direct that this memorial be spread on their records and a copy sent to the family.
