1899-25-03 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/25/1899 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Edward L. Giddings, Joseph C. Kilham, and Elizabeth P. Soltier Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, Katharine P. Loring, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly March 25, 1899 The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees occurred on the above date. Present Messrs. Driver, Giddings, Dodge, Bulkeley, Kilham and Miss Sohier. The reading of the records of the last meetings held on Feb. 28. On motion of Miss Sottier, it was Voted That the list of books for purchase presented by the committee on circulation be approved. The committee chosen at the last meeting to draft resolutions regarding Mr. Tuck's resignation presented the following, which was adopted. And On motion of Miss Sohier, it was Voted They be spread upon the records and published in the local papers. Resolutions Whereas Mr. Joseph Tuck has declined to serve longer as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Beverly Public Library Resolved. That this Board places upon the record the regret of its members at this decision of Mr. Tuck to sever the relations that have existed for more than forty years, including the entire existence of Library; their appreciation of the advantage that the Library his derived from the interest and zeal with which Mr. Tuck has labored during all this long period; and their earnest hope that although the official connection be broken, the Library will continue to receive the benefit of his wisdom and experience. That the Secretary be instructed to communicate to Mr. Tuck this expression of the confidence of the Board, with the sincere good wishes of the members.
