1899-28-02 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 02/28/1899 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Allen H. Bennett, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, and Elizabeth P. Sohier Board members absent: Edward L. Giddings, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly Feb 28th 1899 The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees occurred on the above date. Present Messrs. Driver, Dodge, Bennett, Bulkeley, Kilham & Misses Loring and Sohier. The meeting was called to order by the chairman. The reading of the records of the meetings held on Dec 31, 1898, Jan. 21 and Jan. 26,1899 were read and approved. The Secretary read the list of committees appointed by the chairman in accordance with a voted passed at the annual meeting. viz. For Finance Committee. Edward L. Giddings Allen H. Bennett Joseph C. Kilham Chairman, ex officio Committee on Rooms and Administration. Charles L. Dodge Miss Katharine P. Loring Joseph C. Kilham Committee on Circulation. George E. Woodberry Benjamin R. Bulkeley Miss Katharine P. Loring and Allen H. Bennett A communication from the City Clerk (which is on file) was read, stating that Mr. Joseph C. Kilham had been appointed and eonflrmed as a Trustees of the Public Library for three years, term expiring Jan. 31, 1902 in place of Mr. Joseph Tuck who declined re-appointment. On motion of Miss Sohier, it was Voted That the list of books for purchase presented by the committee on circulation be approved. On motion of Mr. Bulkcloy, it was Voted That we subscribe for the "Musical Courier' for the year 1899. On motion of Miss Sohier, it was Voted That by reason of Mr Tuck declining a re-appointment upon the Board &Trustees and in view of his long and faithful service a committee of two be chosen to draft appropriate resolutions. Messrs. Driver and Giddings were chosen. On motion of Mr. Bennett, it was Voted That the Secretary be directed to return the key of the library to Mr. Tuck, and the privileges of the rooms be extended to him.
