1896-06-06 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 06/06/1896 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Joseph D. Tuck, Joseph S. Baker, Charles L. Dodge, William R. Driver, Katharine P. Loring, and Elizabeth P. Soltier Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, Edward L. Giddings, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly June 6th 1896 The regular monthly meeting for June was held this evening. Present Messrs. Tuck, Driver, Baker, Dodge, Miss Sohler and Miss Loring. The subject of compensation of the Librarian and assistant at the main library this matter was laid upon the table pending the report of a committee consisting of Messrs. Driver and Giddings, who were to consider the matter. The subject was taken from the table and Mr. Driver reported as follows: That Miss Smith receive as compensation ($450.00) Four hundred and fifty dollars and Miss Dodge Two hundred and seventy five ($275.00) per annum from Jan. 1st 1896. On motion of Mr. Baker it was Voted That the report of the committee be accepted and adopted. On motion of Mr. Driver it was Voted That a new reference catalogue be prepared and the books re-arranged. On motion of Mr. Baker it was Voted That Miss Loring be a committee of one to ascertain the system of cataloguing used at the Farms Branch. On motion of Miss Sohier, it was Voted That further free distribution of Catalogues be discontinued. On motion of the Secretary it as Voted That the latest Boston and New England Business Directory be obtained. There being no further business, on motion of Miss Sohier it was Voted That the meeting now adjourn. Charles L. Dodge Secretary
