The Trustees met as per adjournment on Saturday 8th inst. at 4 P.M. The President, Mr. Tuck, in the
chair.
Members present Messrs. Tuck, Giddings, Dodge, Miss Sohier and John S. Baker.
The meeting was called to order and the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The committee on revision of rules and Regulations made a partial report, on so much as
related to a complete organization, a subdivision of the board into committees and their duties
defined, further time being asked for their completion, which was duly granted. The meeting then
considered so much of the committee report as was presented, each article being acted upon
separately as follows:
1st The Board of Trustees of the Library shall meet the first Saturday in January for organization, at
which time they shall elect by ballot a President and Secretary and the following committees
2d A committee of three on Finance whose duties shall be to audit all bills on account of the Library
(keep an account of the same) a majority of whom shall be sufficient to endorse them before their
transmission to the City Auditor.
3d A committee of three that shall have supervision of the Branches who shall report to the board
from time to time their condition and make such recommendations as they may deem expedient.
4th A committee of three who shall have supervision of rooms and administration, make repairs and
provide such furniture and fixtures as may be necessary. Also to employ such additional assistants as
may be needed by the librarian for the proper care and distribution of books, who's compensation
shall be fixed by the board.
5th There shall be a committee of three for the selection and purchase of books exclusive of those for
young readers, subject to the approval of the board. Amended and adopted July 11/96. Committee,
Messrs. Tuck, Giddings & Miss Sohier.
6m There shall also be elected at this meeting a Librarian and assistants and their compensation fixed.

7~ The regular meetings of the board shall be held on the first Saturday of each momh, and four
members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
The foregoing articles were acted upon separately and adopted except the 5hh which was laid upon
the table for further consideration.
In accordance with the foregoing rules the following committees were elected.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
