1914-26-12 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 12/26/1914 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and Louis D. Webber Board members absent: Charles L. Dodge, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on Saturday the 26th day of December 1914, at 3:30 o'clock pm. There were present of the Trustees, Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Messrs. Driver, Bulkeley, Kilham, Webber and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 42 titles, and on motion it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation with reference to 42 titles be adopted. The Committee appointed to consider the matter of Assistant Librarians made a preliminary report and recommend that Miss Frances S. Wiggin, a library expert, who had been employed for three weeks should be continued for a time longer. It was thereupon Voted: That the employment of Miss Frances S. Wiggin be continued for such time as may be necessary to allow her to finish certain work of cataloguing upon which she has been engaged. The Finance Committee made a report in regard to the Budget for the coming year, and on motion it was Voted: That the sum often Thousand dollars ($10,000) and one half the dog tax be asked for a s the appropriation for Library purposes for the coming year. On motion it was Voted: That the matter of an assistant for the janitor during the cold weather be referred to Mr. Webber with power to act. Miss Loring read a letter from Miss Dora Lippington of Leamington, England, presenting to the Library an autotype of a picture be John Crome "Old Crome" entitled The Poringland Oak, and on motion it was Voted: That the thanks of the Trustees be conveyed to Miss Lippington for the gift which she had made to the Library.
