1914-28-11 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 11/28/1914 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, Louis D. Webher, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Charles L. Dodge Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A regular meeting of the Trustees was held at the Library on Saturday the 28th day of November 1914, at 3:30 o'clock pm. There were present of the Trustees: Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, Messrs. Driver, Bulkeley, Kilham, Webber, Woodberry and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The Finance Committee reported on the financial condition of the Library to Dec. 1, 1914. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 35 titles all of which were present. On motion it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee be adopted. On motion it was Voted: That Miss Ethel L. Dodge have leave of absence without pay for one year from December 1s~, 1914. It appearing that another of the Assistants, Miss Jennie P. Dodge was to be necessarily absent for a time on account of ill health and the matter of additional assistants being discussed, it was On motion, Voted: That the Committee on Circulation be instructed to find such substitutes as may be necessary for the present, and that a Committee of three be appointed from the Trustees to look into the whole matter of Library Assistants and to report at a later meeting of the Board. The Chairman thereupon appointed as such Committee: Miss Loring, Mr. Kilham, Mr. Bulkeley. On motion it was Voted: That the thanks of the Trustees be extended to Rev. F. M. Cutler of Wenham for his gift of seven volumes of Heine's in the German and that the thanks of the Board be also extended to Mrs. Augustus P. Loring for the gift of three volumes: The Child and the Book, The Lost Art of Reading and Pedagogical Anthropology. On motion it was Voted to adjourn Adjourned Attest: Louis H. Baker Secretary pro tem
