1914-26-09 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 09/26/1914 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Charles L. Dodge, and Louis D. Webber Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Saturday the 26th day of September, 1914 at 3:30 o'clock pm. There were present of the Trustees Miss Loring, Miss Sohier, and Messrs. Driver, Bulkeley, Kilham, Woodberry and Baker. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. The finance committee presented a report of the financial condition of the Library to October 1 st The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 60 titles, of which 48 were present and on motion, it was Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be adopted with reference to 60 titles. The matter of further subscription to the Books-lovers Library and the question of payment of the bill of that concem for the current quarter, were referred to the Committee on Circulation with power to act. The Con~mittee on Circulation reported a list of subscriptions to periodicals for the ensuing year and on motion it was Voted: That the matter of newspapers for the ensuing year be referred to the Committee on Circulation for further consideration and report. On motion it was Voted: That the list of magazines recommended for the ensuing year by the Committee on Circulation be accepted. The matter of the repointing of certain stonework about the building was referred of Miss Loring and Mr. Webber [as the available members of the Committee on Administration] with power to act. It appearing that representative of the New England Civics Institute had requested permission to present their cause before the Board, Miss Loring and Mr. Woodberry were appointed a committee to meet the said representatives and to report. On motion it was Voted: That the matter of additional help at the Farms Branch or increased compensation for the Branch Librarian be referred to Miss Loring with power to act: provided however that annual increase of expense on this account shall not exceed $52 per year.
