1914-28-03 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/28/1914 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Louis H. Baker, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Joseph C. Kilham, and Louis D. Webber Board members absent: Katharine P. Loring, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Louis H. Baker Beverly, March 28, 1914 The regular monthly meeting was held Sat. Mar. 28th @ 3:30 P.M. Present Messrs. Driver, Bulkeley, Baker, Kilham, Webber and Dodge. The record of the last meeting was read and approved. A communication was received from the City Clerk stating that Joseph C. Kilham, Louis D. Webber and Charles L. Dodge whose terms of office having expired Jan. 31st 1914 have been re- appointed by His Honor the Mayor, and confirmed as trustees for three (3) years from Jan. 31, 1914. Also that Louis H. Baker had been appointed by the Mayor and confirmed as member of the board of trustees to fill the unexpired term of Allen H. Bennett, deceased. The Board then proceeded to organize by the choice of Col. Wm. R. Driver as chairman and Charles L. Dodge as secretary. Voted To accept the report of the committee on circulation with reference to 65 titles and ten (10) volumes History of the Civil War (present) to be paid for from special funds. Also replacements re- binding and repairs now pending be referred to the Finance Committee. The Chairman appointed Louis H. Baker to be a member of the finance committee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Allen H. Bennett. Voted To accept with thanks four (4) scrap books compiled by the Rev. A. B. Rich containing clippings mostly from Boston papers concerning the (entire) civil war from the inauguration of Abraham Lincoln until its close and after his assassination. Presented 'by his daughter Mrs. George Horton, 180 St. Nicholas Ave., New York City. Voted That the pupils of the Beverly High Schools although they may be residents of Wenham be and are hereby authorized to take books from this Library under conditions similar to those under with other pupils of the school take books.
