Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Katharine P. Loring, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, Joseph C. Kilham, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and Louis D. Webber Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly Sep 16 1911 A special meeting of the Trustees was held on the above date for the purpose of considering a communication from His Honor the Mayor. Present Miss Loring, Messrs. Driver, Woodberry, Bulkeley and Dodge. A communication from the Mayor was read, requesting estimates for the maintenance of the library for 1912, in accordance with the provisions of Sec. 21 of the City Charter requiring estimates to be in the Mayor's possession by October 1st. This communication was accepted and placed on file. The estimates for maintenance for 1912 were then considered, and the following recommendation was made. That we ask for 7750.00 or $7375.00 and one half the dog tax and fines divided as follows. For Salaries $3750.00 For Books & Periodicals 2250.00 For Expressing 200.00 For Printing & Binding 475.00 For Lighting 375.00 For Fumiture repairs & supplies 400.00 For Reading Room in Endicott Bldg &care 300.00 7750.00 After this estimate was made it was found an item of 300.00 for Ins. Coming due in 1912 was omitted. Voted To accept the foregoing estimates and that the Sec'y be instructed to forward them to his Honor the Mayor. Voted In view of the fact that the amount appropriated for the maintenance of the Library for 1911 being found insufficient that we ask for 500.00 additional to complete the year. Voted That Mr. Webber be requested to make application for the same. Voted To accept 10 titles present. Adjoumed Charles L. Dodge Secy.
