1909-24-04 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 04/24/1909 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Joseph C. Kilham, and Elizabeth P. Sohier Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, William R. Driver, Katharine P. Loring, Louis D. Webber, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly April 24 1909 The regular meeting of the Trustees occurred on the above date. Present Miss Sohier, Messrs. Bulkeley, Kilham and Dodge. Mr. Bulkeley in the chair. The records of Mar. 27th were read and approved. Voted To accept the report of the committee on circulation with reference to 40 titles. Voted That we accept the recommendation of Miss Loring of the committee on circulation with regard to the substitution for three months of the Fiction Library in place of the Book Lovers now discontinued. The following correspondence was received, read, accepted and placed on file. viz. From the Mass. Cremation Society gift of a copy of "A Quarter Century of Cremation in North America." From Miss Eleanor Emerson Balch with reference to a full set of Scotts Novels published in 1839 property of Edward L. Balch now owned by his son William Lincoln Balch Secy of the Balch Family Assn. Also all of the books published by Oliver Ditson during the life of Edward L. Balch, he being the music printer for that finn at the time. Correspondence on file. Letter from C. F. Atkinson with reference to a file of magazines on Forestry & Irrigation now called "Conservation" as a gift. Adjourned Charles L. Dodge Secy
