1908-29-02 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 02/29/1908 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, and Louis D. Webber Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, Elizabeth P. Sohier, and George E. Woodberry Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly Feb 29, 1908 The regular meeting of the Trustees occurred on the above date. Present Miss Loring, Messrs. Driver, Kilham, Bulkeley, Webber and Dodge. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. A communication from the City Clerk was received, stating that Charles L. Dodge, Joseph C. Kilham and Louis D. Webber, whose terms of office having expire& had been reappointed and confirmed as Trustees for 3 years from Jan. 31, 1908. Voted That we proceed to organize by choice of chairman and secretary. William R. Driver was elected chairman Charles L. Dodge was elected Secretary Voted To accept the report of the committee on circulation with reference to 12 titles present. Voted That Miss Loring be authorized to purchase a Cyclopedia of Engineering (5 vols.) Voted To accept and acknowledge with thanks, the gift by the Hon. Augustus J. Gardner, M.C. of the Life of John Paul Jones. Voted That the board hold a special meeting Saturday March 14th @ 4 P.M. To consider matters concerning the selection of a site for a Library, pending a conference with a joint committee from the City Govt. The Chairman appointed the following as standing committees for 1908: Finance Committee: Joseph C. Kilham Louis D. Webber Administration: Charles L. Dodge Joseph C. Kilham Miss Loring Circulation: Miss Katharine P. Loring Benjamin A. Bulkeley George E. Woodberry Branches: Misses Elizabeth P. Sohier Katherine P. Loring and Louis D.
