1900-03-02 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 02/03/1900 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: William R. Driver, Rev. Benjamin R. Bulkeley, Charles L. Dodge, Edward L. Giddings, Joseph C. Kilham, Katharine P. Loring, and George E. Woodberry Board members absent: Allen H. Bennett, and Elizabeth P. Sohier Others present: Recorder: Charles L. Dodge Beverly Feb 3d 1900 A special meeting of the Trustees as per adjournment on the above date for the purpose of organization. Present Messrs. Driver, Giddings, Woodberry, Bulkeley, Kilham, Dodge and Miss Loring. A communication was received from the City Clerk that on the 24th day of Jan. 1900 the Aldermen confirmed the Mayor' s appointment of the 3 Trustees whose term of office had expired (for three years) viz. Allen H. Bennett, Misses Katharine P. Loring & Elizabeth P. Sohier. It was voted that we proceed to ballot for officers and William R. Driver was elected chairman; Charles L. Dodge was elected Secretary. It was voted that the chairman appoint the several committees and the following were announced as his selection for the ensuing year. Finance Committee Edwd L. Giddings Allen H. Bennett Joseph C. Kilham on Rooms and Administration Charles L. Dodge Miss Katharine P. Loring Joseph C. Kilham on Circulation George E. Woodberry Benjamin R. Bulkeley Miss Katharine P. Loring on Branches Miss Elizabeth P. Sohier Miss Katharine P. Loring Allen H. Bennett Voted that the committee on circulation be authorized to replace such bound volumes of Saint Nicholas magazine as they may deem expedient. Voted That the committee on branches have power to dispose of surplus papers in such manner as they think proper. Voted That the salary of the Librarian be increased to six hundred dollars per annum ($600.00) and that of the first assistant Miss Jennie P. Dodge be three hundred seventy five (375.00) dollars per annum, both to date from February first (1st) 1900. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Charles L. Dodge Secretary
