MINUTES OFTHE REGULAR MEETI~
JUNE 9, 1997
Present:
Commissioner's Barnico, Dean, Duval, Eaton, Farmer, Gourdeau, Lydon,
Mahoney, Rosen and White.

A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Farmer called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
1. Presentations:
· FBO GTE Hangar Concern - Ken Robinson, President of North Atlantic Air addressed
the Commission, he expressed concern that if multiple Corporations leased the GTE
hangar they might all want joint use of the fuel farm.
· T Ford Co. (Executive Session).
2. Reading of the Minutes: Chairman Farmer called for a reading of the Minutes of the
Regular Meeting of May 12, 1997. Motion to accept by Commissioner Gourdeau, 2nd
by Commissioner Mahoney. Motion passed unanimously.
3. Reading of the Financial Report - Chairman Farmer called for a reading of the
Financial Report for May, 1997. Motion to accept subject to audit made by
Commissioner Gourdeau, 2nd by Commissioner Dean. Motion passed unanimously.
B. OLD BUSINESS
1. Property Acquisition - Airport Manager Mezzetti reported that the City Solicitor had
on June 6th sent the Gongas's Attorney an avigation easement offer, the offer said if we
did not hear back by June 16, 1997 we would consider rejection of the offer. Per FAA,
once the offer is rejected we may then proceed with acquisition of the easement by
eminent domain.
The Commission was also informed that the property boundaries between airport and
Gongas land was being resurveyed and granite markers installed.
2. Snow Removal Equipment Acquisition - Airport Manager Mezzetti informed the
Commission of the bid results and of the Catapiller selection.
3. Sam Fonzo Rd/Industrial Park Update - Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the
Commission on FAA and MAC's request for additional information from Dufresne-Henry
before they "sign off' the proposed project. Chairman Farmer requested that the Airport
Manager call Dufresne~Henry daily to keep abreast of D-H efforts.
4. Aerial Advertising - Airport Manager Mezzetti informed the Commission that two
aerial advertisers have complied thus far with new requirements.
5. Air War Memorial Dedication and Aviation Day - Chairman Farmer and Airport
Manager Mezzetti updated the Commission on latest efforts. Chairman Farmer requested
press be notified when helicopter is mounted and efforts be made to locate members of the
families of the nine Beverly servicemen killed in action.
C. NEW BUSINESS: None.
D. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT: Airport Manager updated the Commission
on such subjects as Gurnard area taxes, airport crack filling, airport pavement markings,
U.S.T. 's, City Solicitor comments all of which can be seen in detail in 6/3/97 requests of
the Commission and Airport Manager's Report.
E. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Vice Chairman White made a motion to enter into
Executive Session, 2nd by Commissioner Mahoney. Motion passed unanimously.
Vice Chairman White made a motion to return from Executive Session, 2nd by
Commissioner Rosen. Motion passed unanimously.
F. CHAIRMAN/COMMISSION COMMENTS
· Commissioner Duval had earlier informed the Commission that the FAA would inspect
the Airport sometime in August.
· Chairman Farmer wants to make sure that all abutters who served on VMP are given
letters of appreciation.
· Chairman Farmer requests that the status of the proposed Flatly construction in and
around the approach slope of Rwy 34 monitored closely.
· Commissioner Barnico made a motion to request FEMA pay the airport $15.00/too.
for each vehicle parked on airport land, 2nd by Commissioner Eaton (in order to
discuss modification of motion). Discussion ensued. Motion withdrawn provided
Mark Foster be invited to attend July B.A.C meeting.
G. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Lydon, 2nd by
Commissioner Gourdeau. Vote passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
