Budget Meeting Nov. 12, 1958
A Budget Meeting was held at the Library Nov. 12 at 4:30. Mrs. Conrad, Mr. Cagan and Mr.
Toomey were in attendance. Mr. Brown absent.
After study of all phases of Maintenance, $5500 was necessary for new books due to
increased costs and demand $1000 for school books as none were purchased for two years and
another $1000 for up-to-date technical books and encyclopedias which are drastically needed. This
made a total of $1500 for books. Other necessary increases were lighting, periodicals due to increased
costs, furniture, emergency repairs necessary telephone increase as well as nearly all other. The total
Maintenance was set for $20,650. No additional was added to Salaries at the Mayor's request
because of the present Barrington Survey except $800 was added to Page money because of
additional preparation of school books. The total 1959 Salary Budget was set at $49,824 and total
Budget $70,474.00 with the anticipation of the Barrington Survey increasing salaries. For Equipment
it was decided to include $3000 for new Charging desk, $750+ for Charging machine, new
typewriter $450 (the link fence both at Central & Farms to be painted not included in Budget.)
This to be voted on at the Nov. 20 meeting of the Board.
