1929-28-03City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/28/1929 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Thomas F. Delaney, Marian P. Motley, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, Fred H. Porter, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Caleb B. Hood, and Helen L. Marsters Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, March 28th, 1929 Regular meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held at the Library on March 28th, at 4 P.M. There were present of the Board Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Porter, Pond, Small, Delaney and Rowe. The records of the meeting of February 28th were read and approved. Mr. Small presented the report of the Finance Committee, and it was voted to accept the same. Voted: to accept the Librarian' s report, and place the same on file. The Librarian then presented the proposed budgeting of books funds - a matter which had been referred to the Circulation Committee and the Librarian - and since there was no descent, the budget was accepted as read. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 64 books and the receipt of 3 gifts. Voted: That this recommendation be accepted and the thanks of the Trustees be extended to the donors of the gifts. A statement of the expenditures form the Special Sohier Fund was presented by Miss Loring, and a copy of the same placed on file. Upon suggestion of Miss Loring, it was voted to send Mrs. Rudkin a gift of $25.00 form the Special Sohier Fund, together with the thanks of the Trustees, for her part in making the Neighborhood Library Meeting so successful. Voted: That the Finance Committee be instructed to find out whether or not the Trustees might elect their own Treasurer to handle the Library Trust Funds. Voted: That the Administration Committee be authorized to make necessary minor repairs about the building. Voted also: That the Administration Committee be authorized to look into the matter of allowing Mr. Turner to use a part of the Library grounds for the planting of nursery stock. After informal discussion it was voted that the Administration Committee be authorized to confer with Mayor Patch as to the possibility of retiring Mr. Hanners and report to the Trustees at a later feeling.
