Loring, Thomas F. Delaney, Caleb B. Hood, Marian P. Motley, Fred H. Porter, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Helen L. Marsters, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and William A. Rowe Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, November 21, 1929 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, November 21st, 1929. There were present of the Board Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Delaney, Porter, Hood and Small. The records of the meeting of October 3 1st were read and approved, and it was voted to ratify all action taken by the Trustees present at that meeting., The November statement of the Finance Committee was presented by Mr. Small. Voted: to allow any balance in the salary account, due to the illness of Mr. Hanners and of two members of the Staff, to be returned to the City. Mr. Small then presented the budget proposed by the Finance Committee for the year 1930. After careful consideration of each item in both the salary and maintenance accounts, it was voted to ask the City for the sum of $30,754.76, plus ~A the dog tax, for regular expenses ($18,054.76 for salaries and $12,700 plus ~A the dog tax for maintenance.), and the sum of $2,265 as a special budget for extraordinary repairs. In view of the damage done to the hall at Beverly Farms through its use as a voting place, it was voted: to authorize the Finance Committee of the Trustees to notify the Mayor and Board of Aldermen that the Trustees were unwilling that the hall be used, after the next city election, for voting purposes. The Librarian's report, giving circulation and registration figures for the eleven months of 1929, as well as an account of the special activities marking Children's Book Week, was read and approved. Miss Loring presented an outline for the annual report of the Trustees which was unanimously approved by the Board. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 162 titles and the receipt of 7 gifts. Voted: to accept this recommendation and to extend the thanks of the Trustees for the gifts received.
