1925-28-03City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 03/28/1925 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Rev. Edward A. Chase, Helen L. Marsters, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, Fred H. Porter, Robert O. Small and Elizabeth P. Sohier Board members absent: Thomas F. Delaney, and Caleb B. Hood Others present: Recorder: Beverly March 28, 1925 Regular meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held at the Library on Saturday the 28th day of March 1925 at 3:30 P.M. There were present of the Board Misses Loring, Sohier and Marsters, Messrs. Small, Pond, Porter and Chase. The records of the meeting of February 28, 1925 were read and approved. The Finance Committee made monthly report. Voted: To approve same. Voted: Voted: To accept the Librarian' s report to date and place same on file. That the Chairman of the Board, the Librarian and Secretary be authorized to engage an assistant for 2 months. Voted: That the Children's Room after April 1, 1925 be closed at 8 P.M. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 69 titles and the receipt of 109 gifts. Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be accepted and the thanks of the Trustees be extended for the 109 gifts. Voted: That Miss Elsie K. Woodbury, in consideration of her good record be granted 2 weeks sick leave with full pay. Voted That the matter of the care of the lawn and hedge would be referred to Committee on Administration, with power to act. Voted: That the Chairman of the Finance Committee be instructed to appear before the Finance Committee of the City, explaining our Budget for 1925. Voted: To proceed to the organization of the Board. Written ballot being had, Miss Katharine P. Loring was unanimously elected chairman and Helen L. Marsters Secretary. Voted: That the Chairman of the Board should appoint the Committees for the ensuing year. Doyle as an Assistant subject to the budget, at $1,200 a year salary. Voted: That the matter of the rear entrance of the Farms Branch be left with the Chairman of the Committee on Branches with power to act. Voted: To accept Mr. Chase's report as a report of progress in regard to having games in the basement of the Library, and place same on file for further consideration.
