1925-25-07City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 07/25/1925 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Thomas F. Delaney, Caleb B. Hood, Helen L. Marsters Board members absent: Rev. Edward A. Chase, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, Fred H. Porter, Robert O. Small and Elizabeth P. Sohier Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly July 25th 1925 Regular meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library were hld at the Library on Saturday the 25th day of July 1925 at 3:30 P.M. There were present of the Board Misses Loring and Marsters, Messrs. Delaney and Hood. The records of the meeting of June 27, 1925 were read and approved. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 15 titles and the receipt of 9 gifts. Voted That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be accepted and the thanks of the Trustees be extended for the 9 gifts. The Chairman of the Board reported she had been advised by the City Treasurer that the fine money cannot be legally returned. Voted: To accept the Librarian' s report to date and place same on file. Voted: Voted: Voted To pay Mr. Charles G. Loring's bill of $40.00 for preliminary studies, new children' s wing. To authorize Miss Stanton to purchase a photograph cabinet at a cost not to exceed $250.00 That Mis Florence Taylor' s salary be increase $25 this year, this to be retroactive beginning May 1, 1925. Voted: That Mr. Delaney be authorized to purchase the Casali Property for $13,000 stipulated that Mr. Casali have six months to move, also to have small buildings now on lot. Voted: The payment for the property to be made up from Library Funds together with the accrued interest thereon, the said funds now in the hands of the City Treasurer and on deposit with the Beverly Savings Bank. Whatever amount may be used to complete the purchase is to be borrowed by the Trustees. Voted: To authorize the Circulation Committee to spend a sum not over $250.00 for wire doors to protect the valuable books in the Art Room. The Finance Committee made a report on the financial condition of the Library to August 1, 1925. Voted: To approve same. Voted: To adjourn Adj ourned Helen L. Marsters Secretary
