Loring, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Caleb B. Hood, Fred H. Porter, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Marian P. Motley, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and William A. Rowe Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, December 23, 1930 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Tuesday, December 23rd, at 4 P.M. There were present, Miss Loring, and Messrs. Delaney, Porter, Hood, Cronin and Small. The records of the meeting of November 251h were read and approved. A summary of the expenses for December was presented by the Finance Committee. Voted: to approve the same. It was voted to grant an additional two weeks salary to Miss Woodbury and Mill Culbert because of their continued illness. Mr. Small then presented the budget for 1931, as proposed by the Finance Committee, explaining in detail all increases suggested under both salary and maintenance items. It was unanimously voted that this budget, calling for 31,788.80 plus one half the dog tax, be adopted as the budget for 193 1, and that the Finance Committee be instructed to appear at City Hall, at the proper time, to take up the matter with the Mayor. The Librarian presented her report of activities during December, making special mention of the admirable volunteer work being done by Mrs. Frank Palmer. It was voted that a note be sent by the Secretary of the Board to Mrs. Palmer, expressing the appreciation of the Trustees for her service to the Public and to the Library itself. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 46 new titles, and the receipt of 30 gifts. This recommendation was accepted, and an especial vote of thanks was extended to Miss Loring for her gift of a set of Sir Walter Scott' s Prose works, in twenty eight volumes. Adjourned Marjorie H.
