Loring,, Thomas F. Delaney, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and Fred H. Porter Board members absent: James A. Cronin, Caleb B. Hood, Marian P. Motley, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, April 24th, 1930 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the library on Thursday, April 24, at4P.M. There were present of the Trustees Miss Loring, Messrs. Delaney, Pond, and Porter. The report of the meetings of February 27th and March 27th, at which there was not a quorum, were read by the Secretary; and it was voted to ratify all action taken by the Board at these two meetings. The monthly statement of the Finance Committee was read and approved. After discussions of the budget as granted by the City Government for this year, it was voted to pay to Mr. Moses, from the Trust Funds, the sum of fifty dollars, in two installments - this to be considered as for extra services from January to July 1st 1930. Voted: to hire James F. Clark as permanent assistant janitor, at his present salary of $1,300. The report of the Librarian, summing up the work done in the Children' s Department during the school year was read and approved. The report of the Committee on Circulation recommending the purchase of 59 titles and the receipt of 35 gifts, was read and approved; and it was voted that the thanks of the Trustees be extended for the gifts received. Letters were read from the Gammau-Erbe Co. and the Dotin-Denton Desk Co. Of Boston, quoting prices on windsor chairs for the reading rooms, and Mr. Delaney and Mr. Porter were asked to go further into this matter. Voted: to use Miss Marion Crafts as substitute as much as necessity demands during the illness of members of the Staff and through the vacation months. Voted: to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H.
